Research into shots for Horror Openings
- We experimented using different shots the first shot we tried was an establishing shot. The shot was successful and is something that I could use for my actual shoot. I could use the establishing shot where there is someone hanging off a tree for an opening scene.
- The next shot we tried was a long shot. The shot was successful however I don't think I'd use a long shot for a horror opening as it doesn't create enough suspense and I don't think it would be suitable for horror.
- We tried a close up and it was successful and is something I would use for an opening. We experimented with zoom going into an extreme-close up which looked even better and was a tool we then decided to use in our preliminary.
- We tried a tracking shot. It was a hard shot to do but was successful however wouldn't be something I'd use in a horror opening as it doesn't create suspense.
- With the aerial shot we were able to see the whole scene and was very successful and is something we can use as an opening as you can't see faces so it creates the allure of the unknown.
